This standard covers paint finishes on the metal surfaces of automotive bodies and parts, for the purposes of decoration and corrosion protection, except the following:

a) Paint for special purposes, such as thermal resistance, acid resistance, soundproofing, inside surfaces of lubricating system, etc.

b) Paint on special parts, such as panel fitted surfaces and inside surfaces of box-shaped parts, where finishing surface with paint is difficult

c) Paint for the purpose of preventing corrosion between processes

d) Paint on plated plastics
